This is a digital “reprint” of an email I sent to my peeps in June 2018.
Initially I heard from many of them saying how much it resonated with them and since then, I’ve had several people remind me of it and how great they thought it was.
I wrote this email because I wanted to talk about the idea that when people who are searching for help (the thing that will give them relief and help them change whatever it is they want to change) find you online and subscribe to your “thing”, they have to be “nurtured” first. I disagree and this email explained why…

Fair warning about this love note…
1. It’s kinda long and there’s no TLDR; because I really need you to read it all. It’s Saturday, I was just laying here minding my own business when all this stuff just started oozing out of my head and heart.
2. It might sound a little blasphemous considering how most of us have been taught to market (I might get worst marketer award… oooorrr… you just might love me forever).
3. It’s the most heartfelt thing I’ve written to you this year.
4. I’m gonna use CAPS here and there… I promise, I’m not screaming at you…it just emphasizes the message better. You’ll see.
So… like I said, you’re not here to be nurtured.
Think about this…
You arrived here, in our little Geekdom, not because you wanted me to “nuture” you…
You arrived here because you thought that in some way, whatever I was offering caught your attention and you thought it could help you solve a problem.
And since pretty much everything I do is related to digital marketing in some way, you likely had or have a marketing problem.
Go one step further…
Marketing problems lead to “I don’t have enough clients” problems, right?
No clients, no income, no business. That’s a pretty clear path right?
Well, if all I did was send you emails that “nurtured” you, a month from now you’d have the same problem… maybe even worse if you don’t find someone else to actually HELP you.
AND you’d probably be ticked at me for just sending you fluffy stuff and not helping you DO anything.
Here’s something I’ve recently learned about myself…
When it comes to business, I’m not really a nurturer…
I’m a behind the scenes SUPPORTER… a DOER… an IMPLEMENTER… my inner geek is in heaven when I’m helping you DO something that gets you closer to the results you want.
When I realized this, it literally felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
Since you’ve been here in the Geekdom, you know I’m really big on doing what brings you joy in your business. And that’s a discussion for another day.
In any case, helping you DO the things that create the results you want brings me kid in a candy store type joy.
So the self-prescribed pressure of creating courses and teaching classes? Gone.
It’s not what I enjoy doing most.
I’d rather sit with you, virtually of course, and walk you through a demo of how to implement something and answer your questions.
I’d rather help you come up with a plan of action (I LOVE talking about marketing strategy!) and then help you IMPLEMENT it.
I discovered last year that hybrid done-WITH-you IMPLEMENTATION INTENSIVES were what made my heart beat… because it’s something that allows you to ask questions and get hands-on help… not just buy something and let it collect digital dust.
I want to help you achieve TRANSFORMATION, not just give you INFORMATION.
Now, don’t get me wrong, of course I can also be nurturing while doing those things. For sure.
But I don’t think it serves you best to just fill your Inbox all the time with a tip here or a tip there…
I’d rather help you CREATE the digital assets you need to attract the clients you want so you can have the business you want.
Doesn’t that sound better than sending you yet more information to overload you?
If I was a betting woman, I’d bet money that it’s not a lack of information keeping you from having the clients and cash flow you want.
And maybe I’m wrong, but I’d also bet money you’d rather receive real help getting those clients and cash flow RIGHT NOW instead of just being “nurtured”, primed and prepped for weeks, no?
I’m seriously tired of raggedy (best word I could think of at the moment), pointless marketing that just leads to overstuffed hard drives and information overload.
So as this love note gets just a little bit longer, let me just tell you this…
– From now on, when I show up in your Inbox, I’m not just gonna be trying to “nurture” you…
– I’m gonna offer you the opportunity to DO something to get the results you say you want.
– Yes, every. single. time.
I won’t be a sleazeball and I won’t be a begging fool…
… but I *will* hopefully educate and even entertain you (I love a good corny joke)… while also pushing you to take ACTION.
Otherwise, what’s the point of all this NOOOISSEE??
Information is no good to you if it’s not applied. You *know* this. So no more just collecting information.
I’ve been pondering this for months and here’s the thing…
I can help you create digital assets that help you attract, engage and convert your best clients. I can.
I’m as sure about that as I am that cooked fruit is the devil’s worst joke played on mankind. Oh, you didn’t know? Now you do. And that alone was worth the time you’ve taken to read this love note. 🙂 🙂

I’m gonna stop pussyfooting around trying to pretty up the fact that I do indeed have solutions to your problems… trying not to offend you by just being direct about it. My fault. — I’m also slightly proud my vocabulary is so expansive that pussyfooting came to my mind immediately as the perfect word for the context of this sentence. No, no… no need to pat me on the back, I’ll do it. 😀
